<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">So I'm not exactly 100% sure of where we are with this case, but it seems to me that</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">+ All custom syntax input should (and I would hope currently does) handle ISO Durations.<br /> + All our beans (that is in the net.shibboleth.* and org.opensaml.* trees) should hande ISO Durations, no matter how they are specified (custom or native Spring)<br /> + Other beans need not get any special treatment beyond what their deployers provide. So if Daniel with his LDAPtive hat on wants to do something he can but Daniel with his Shibboleth hat on need not be doing anything to influence that. If user's evince difficulty with this we could suck the bean definition into system as an abstract bean </p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">There is a fourth case which deserves some attention, and that is non Shibboleth/OSAML beans which are defined inside the system tree. In this case if values are filled in from properties then I would say that they need conversion. For the other cases (other values which specify durations in abstract beans) I don't know whetherwe should privide conversion or not; but equally I don't know whether we have any of these.</p>
