<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I wanted to report my findings while working through this issue on the assumption that our cms tag library was the cause of this issue. As it turns out, that assumption has proved to be incorrect and I have found that there is definitely an issue with using the idpui taglib(urn:mace:shibboleth:2.0:idp:ui) in IdP3 that is compiled by a Jetty 9.x container(At minimum. I did not attempt with Tomcat).</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I eliminated our cms taglib as the culprit by simply stripping out the cms taglib from our login.jsp. When I retried the testing, the issue was still present.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I also point out that this issue is not specific to CAS session requests in any way( that is my fault for labeling the issue as such). This issue occurs for ALL subsequent session requests/views of the login.jsp, after an initial relying party UI context is passed to the jsp and evaluated by the idpui taglib. In other words, if I restart and then go to a protected service, the login page I get has the correct branding (ie., logo, name, description via idpui), but every other service I get a login page for, after that, has the same branding as the first service.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I then thought I look to see if Jetty was doing any kind of caching where the view(s) were concerned, and I found that, in fact there are two files per view created (if not already existing) in the designated Jetty temp directory(in our case we specified /opt/web/jetty_base/tmp). Specifically(in our case), the login view files were created in /opt/web/jetty_base/tmp/jetty-0.0.0.0-80-idp.war-_idp-any-</p> {some long number}
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">.dir/jsp/org/apache/jsp/WEB_002dINF/jsp. The files are named login_jsp.java and login_jsp.class. As a test, I restarted the Idp and visited the initial service, getting a login page. I verified that the above mentioned files were created in the temp directory and then deleted them. I then visited a second SP getting a login page from the Idp with the correct branding, which tells me that the temp files are reused, if present. I then verified that the temp files had been re-created and visited a third SP getting a login page that incorrectly displayed the second SP's branding.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">At this point I had completely separate epiphany regarding how I was representing the UI Info on our login.jsp. In IdP3, you guys are sending in the rpUIContext to the view so that in the velocity world, logic can be performed to acheive the same result that the idpui tags provide to jsp views. My last test of the problem with the idpui tags was to replace just the <idpui:serviceLogo block with an rpUIContext.logo block, leaving the other 2 idpui blocks in place, them being idpui:organizationDisplayName and idpui:serviceDescription. As expected when I attempted a second SP session, the IdP presented me a login page with the correct logo, but a display name and description for the first SP I had visited.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">We have rightly abandoned the idpui taglib for our IdP3 jsp views and have used the incoming rpUIContext and we have concise provided or default branding now being presented for all service login views.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I thought it prudent to report my findings in case the development team deems action necessary regarding the idpui taglib, and it's use in IdP3.</p>
