If it fails, the IdP should fall back to a different login method, e.g. username/password.<br />** This use case is suitable for organizations that can make sure that all clients reliably support SPNEGO/Kerberos, or that there are no Internet Explorers that might fall back to NTLM.<br />* Choice of login method: The user should get a single login page where the user can choose how to log in, either by username/password or by SPNEGO/Kerberos.<br />** This use case is suitable if it can't be made sure that all clients reliably support SPNEGO/Kerberos, or if users should be required to opt-in for SPNEGO/Kerberos.<br /><br />*Availability of SPNEGO/Kerberos login:*<br />* The administrator of the IdP should have the option to enable/disable the SPNEGO/Kerberos login based on certain criteria, e.g. the user agent's IP address or identifier string. For example, the administrator can make sure that SPNEGO/Kerberos is not available for user agents or clients known to not support SPNEGO/Kerberos.<br />* The user should have the option to opt-in or opt-out for SPNEGO/Kerberos login.<br /><br />*Auto-login:*<br />* Opt-in for auto-login: If a user needs to opt-in for SPNEGO/Kerberos, the user should have the option to enable automatic login by SPNEGO/Kerberos for future logins.<br />* Configuration of auto-login by the user: The user should have a possibility to enable/disable auto-login through an administrative interface.<br /><br /></span> <span class="diffremovedchars" style="background-color:#ffe7e7;text-decoration:line-through;">The</span> <span class="diffaddedchars" style="background-color:#ddfade;"><br />_The</span> <span class="diffcontext"> following issues regarding SPNEGO need to be considered:</span> <span class="diffaddedchars" style="background-color:#ddfade;">_</span> <span class="diffcontext"><br />* Not possible to determine whether SPNEGO will work: The SPNEGO protocol doesn't support a mechanism to query the client's capabilities to check whether SPNEGO/Kerberos will work.<br />* Internet Explorer: Downgrade to NTLM: If Internet Explorer gets an initial request to initiate SPNEGO, but Kerberos is not available on the client or doesn't work, Internet Explorer falls back to NTLM and shows a login form to the user. The IdP won't get a response and can't handle this problem appropriately. This situation might occur when a road warrior using Internet Explorer tries to log in using SPNEGO/Kerberos.<br /></span>
