<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">On the issue of adding arbitrary filtering support.... I said it was "pretty easy", but I guess I meant code-wise.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Practically speaking, doing it for all resolvers (so in AbstractMetadataResolver) probably means breaking API changes. I'd think of doing it like the abstract filtering CredentialResolver. So probably can't do that for 3.2.0.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I guess if we supported it <b>just</b> in AbstractBatchMetadataResolver, we could add support directly in that base class.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">But wanted to also point out that you can do this today with literally no additional code. The AbstractBatchMetadataResolver also implements this interface:</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0"><tt>public interface IterableMetadataSource extends Iterable<EntityDescriptor></tt></p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">So you can literally filter on the whole metadata collection if you want via Guava's:</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0"><tt>Iterables#filter(final Iterable<T> unfiltered, final Predicate<? super T> predicate)</tt></p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I suppose one could also implement a trivial MetadataResolver that is injected with an IterableMetadataSource and then just calls that Guava method with the predicates plucked out of the CriteriaSet.</p>
