<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Most if not all 3rd party libraries make up part of our public API, so that means we have to avoid updates to those APIs that are incompatible with the versioning policy. It falls under the first bullet, not just the second.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">In the case of ldaptive it's definitely part of our API since we support the use of custom wiring to use advanced features, so there's not much leeway. I don't know that it would have been as big a deal before with V2 but now that native Spring is the norm, I think we have to be exceedingly conservative or we'd have to provide a lot of rules about what people could count on.</p>
