<p>1) What should the default timeouts be? We already have some precedent for the connection timeout to be 5000ms.  That does seem pretty aggressive, but I think we probably shouldn't change existing defaults where they appear, for obvious reasons.  I suppose we could do something different for the resource internal default. For the socket timeout, how about 60s for all? </p>

<p>2) Whether to do the socket timeout default internally for the HttpClientBuilder, or to add getter/setter.  Not sure that our v2 code was always under the same versioning policy as we (Chad) had stated for v3. If we can just add the methods, bump openws to 1.6.0 and treat the others as a patch update only (with openws bump as a necessary bug fix), then I think that's the thing to do.  Given the different versioning history, I don't think we should bump OpenSAML to 2.7 and IdP to 2.5 just for this. Alternatively we'd just do the socket timeout in the builder internally, with no setter.</p></div>
