<ul>
<li><tt>install.sh</tt> runs the ant script and tries to do an installation. It should be run from the distribution because it expects things to be in that layout this is where the warning were spring from (you were trying to install the installation over itself)</li>
<li><tt>ant.sh</tt> runs the ant script with the parameter provided target (which just to confuse things has "install" as the default target). You'd run this in the installtion dir to rebuild the war file</li>
</ul>
<p>so</p>
<ul>
<li>always run <tt>install.sh</tt> from the <b>distribution</b>. This will do an upgrade of the current install to the distribution. If the two are the same then its a noop</li>
<li>To rebuild the war file run <tt>ant.sh build-war</tt> from the <b>installation</b> (<tt>/opt/shibboleth-idp</tt>)</li>
