<p>But I think I solved the line number and log mystery. Grepped the projects for "XML Parsing Error".  That seems to be coming from our java-support net.shibboleth.utilities.java.support.xml.LoggingErrorHandler (impl of SAX ErrorHandler).   That's exactly what it does on its line 44.  Since it wraps an slf4j Logger instance which is handed to its ctor, clearly its log category comes from there (e.g. SchemaBuilder), but I guess the line number comes out from the LoggingErrorHandler itself.  See the SchemaBuilder constructor:</p>

<p>So that's somewhat confusing.  Is there a reason it does that, i.e. why doesn't it just have its own logger?  I infer maybe it's to give context to the log event callback.  Of course if one doesn't realize that's what's going on, madness ensues.</p>
