<p>It is 100% true that none of the property replacement material is inherited, ever. That's just a Spring thing, BeanPostProcessors and such are not inherited. And the contexts created by those springResource configs MUST programmatically or explicitly declare their own property replacement processors or it won't happen. If that's what you mean by duplication, yes, that's absolutely required. That's why annoyingly all the webflow bean files have to declare it since each flow is its own context.</p>
<p>Secondly, it was the case, I thought, that setting up the property replacement processor with the changed delimiters rendered the original delimiter off-limits to Spring. If that weren't true, our basic resolver configs with $request.PrincipalName shouldn't work, but they do, so something's fishy if the default prefix/suffix are getting recognized by Spring.</p>
<p>I don't know why the lack of access to the parent context in general, though. That just sounds like a bug, since we certainly have access to the root context from the service contexts.</p>
<p>It may also be we need to rethink the feature if it just doesn't work well, since we clearly have many ways now to do the same thing anyway.</p></div>
