<p>The apparent behavior is that there's an AuthType shibboleth and require rule being applied to the /Shibboleth.sso paths, since it's essentially 302'ing and then re-triggering the initiator. Normally that means the handlerURL is being mis-calc'd and the requests are getting handled as a resource request.</p>
<p>But even so, removing that Location block shouldn't have any affect on this whatsoever, and it certainly doesn't <b>add</b> anything to the picture that would cause that effect. So if it were really making that much of a difference, there have be some very complex interactions going on between multiple Location blocks or something like that.</p>
<p>I'm definitely not willing to just remove it blindly without any explanation. It's only there to prevent issues with other AuthTypes imposing themselves, and it definitely isn't supposed to affect whether the SP itself interposes itself. If that happens, things are very wrong, and it's not a real fix to just remove the block. There's a time bomb in the config that will fail at some point later.</p></div>
