I thought there was a layer "higher" (lower order of precedence) than the stuff that the legacy RP parsing was creating, and that made use of the idp.properties toggles.</p>
<p>So if it's as you describe, and there really are no algorithms effectively being wired by the IdP in the legacy RP case, then the effective config would be what is the OpenSAML library defaults...which is SHA-256.</p>
<p>But as I said none of this should really be relevant. The algorithms from -Configuration instances are only used if there are no algorithms in metadata, or they aren't usable.</p></div>
