<p>This only ever crops up in "AD mode". It would be nice it make it just work, but that isn't going to be the case. Although I can be convinced otherwise, I think it is deeply inappropriate for the installer to grab the AD cert and install it anywhere - even though that's exactly what the user is then going to do.</p>
<p>So the experience is going to be that the first login fails unless the user has followed the documentation and installed the certificate somewhere. However I do need to pick defaults which provoke a debuggable error (and a major concern for me with this report was that IllegalArgumentException is inscrutable as far as a user goes).</p>
<p>The other thing to bear in mind is that so long as this is property driven the QI can setup whatever it wants.</p>
<p>From what I'm reading I'm guessing that needs to be to default to use the JVM keystore (which probably won't have the CRT in it) and to provide the installer with instruction to use a separate keystore with the AD CRT in it. My assumption is that the failure to not find a certificate will be more helpful to the end user and the person who answers the email on the list.</p>
<p>For the rest </p>
<p>> the best scenario by far is if the resource path here works like the rest of the IdP resources do if that's in any way possible.</p>
<p>I'd +1 that. Its just too helpful to know that you can use it and it "just works" beit it from the classpath or the filesystem. Adding "file:<br class="atl-forced-newline" />" is a recipe for a lot of downstream pain.</p></div>
