<p>I had toyed around with the idea of ligaturing off the doDestroy() method in some base classes, so we cannot accidentally paint ourselves into a corner if at a later stage we decide that we need a filter which really does need destruction (timers and databases about summon it up), but there are quite a lot of them BasePolicy/BaseMatcher/BaseBridging/BaseComposedPolicy/BaseComposedMatcher and some implementations (like scripted) start from scratch. So I'm not sure that I'm convinced.</p></div>
