<p>The actual swap of the new config should be an atomic assignment of a variable, so the old objects shouldn't need to be explicitly gone before the new one gets used.</p>
<p>Of course I also don't see that we can affect the GC time of the old objects, it's going to take what it takes. Maybe the solution for somebody needing thousands of policies is a database-driven implementation of the filter service that just has a different model than the approach the custom language uses, without the custom policy control and more of a direct "SP -> attributes" mapping table.</p>
