<p>As far as how to do it, I think you have to implement it in the ReloadableService code itself, not just with a function. A function works once, but it doesn't give you polling or reloading capability.</p>

<p>I think we'd have to extend the ReloadableService API to allow construction with a directory, and then build in code that does the initial Spring resource set based on the directory, but then have the reload thread both monitor the resources <b>and</b> check for changes to the directory to refresh the resource set.</p>

<p>It's also subject to bad scaling properties. The apps that use this trick have far fewer files to load than we would in many cases (see TestShib). It's not something I'd ever suggest be used in production.</p></div>
