<p>No, IMHO setBackingStore shouldn't be public, that's an internal impl detail of the resolvers.</p>

<p>IIRC though, you can work around in a test, etc by just setting setRequireValidMetadata(false).  At least I think that's probably what's causing you to fail.  In fact, if your metadata is in fact invalid, then even when this is fixed, you'll either have to do that (or else it won't resolve anything from the invalid metadata), or fix the metadata to make it valid.  You could of course do the latter now and I think that would be another workaround.</p>

<p>Unless what you're actually testing is the edge case of: the metadata isn't valid when the resolver starts up, but it later becomes valid on a refresh.  In which case you can ignore me.</p></div>
