<p>This is really not a XSRF issue, since it's a login form. There's no real attack other than feeding in credentials known to the attacker, so trying to prevent that is pretty pointless.</p>
<p>Secondly, it seems of limited value to me to insert a nonce into the form to prevent screen scrapers, because it doesn't prevent that at all. Getting to the login form in a way that makes it usable as a password check implies doing the initial SAML request, feeding back a cookie, and then submitting the form. Anything we put into the form would be easy for the party trying to repurpose the form to pick up and use, so I don't see how to address David's use case. David, what did you have in mind that could prevent this?</p>
<p>Thirdly, I don't understand Kevin's patch. If you access to the login form directly as a JSP page, it's not usable, since the form action is null (the code inside the IdP already checks for the login context all over the place and breaks if you don't have one). So what is it that the "attacker" in your case did that we could prevent?</p>
