        <div class="comment-block" style="background-color:#edf5ff;border:1px solid #dddddd;color:#000000;padding:12px;"><p>Pooling is normally a function of the data connectors themselves. I wasn't very successful making the built-in JDBC pooling work, and I preferred dbcp to c3p0 (the former was used in V1, the latter in V2). With JDBC, you can always user container managed connections and do your own pooling there. The only downside is that aacli doesn't run anymore, which is something I'd love to fix later.</p>

<p>The LDAP pooling is from Daniel's code and apart from making sure fail-fast works with all pooling options, that's all handled for us, but we do expose some options related to pooling in the config.</p>

<p>Caching is a separate thing, and is also currently done at the data connector level in V2, but in a base class as a cross-connector consideration.</p>

<p>So I guess you would say that pooling is a matter for each connector individually, and caching is a matter for the design as a whole.</p></div>
