One obvious concern is I guess you’d be hardwiring the path to go to for the software. Strictly speaking, we haven’t really intended to make that any sort of API, like we did with the plugins. I think we’d almost have to embed something in the plugin.properties for the IdP itself or some parallel mechanism. Maybe it’s enough to just default in a path to look at but have it overrideable.

I think verifying it somehow is a necessity if we do this at all (and I’m not necessarily sold we have to).
