For my own future reference. Nimbus itself is only concerned with the JWA algorithm name e.g. PS256, and constructs a suitable call to the JCA Signature class with the correct JCA algorithm and a PSSParameterSpec that includes the settings for the Hash algorithm and Mask Generation Function used.
