I went ahead and deprecated the faulty OP fields for now. In doing so, I realized the root of the problem here is partly that the original SecurityConfiguration class is too specific and was put too high in the class tree, due to the SAML focus back then. Since I don’t think we’re likely to fix any of this for real until the 5.0 platform and plugins, I suspect what we should do is just make some breaking changes there and alter things so that the original SecurityConfiguration class is either a marker interface, or just get rid of it entirely at that level and move it down into the subclasses of ProfileConfiguration.
