I’ll review, but it sounds like my intuition was correct. Honestly I doubt that backgrounding the cache priming step is all that helpful, so that’s at least a workaround.

As far as a fix, it does turn out that I think I have a decent idea how to fix this (by detecting the mode and not backgrounding the process, overriding the setting) but that’s largely “luck”, as that code happens to live in the SP and should have access to that information about “mode”. Nothing in the lower layers would, so it would be very hard to fix anywhere else.
