Version 3.3.2 of the official maven-javadoc-plugin fixes all outstanding issues we have which required us to maintain our own ‘patched’ plugin. We can therefore revert to the official version. See release notes in https://github.com/apache/maven-javadoc-plugin/releases/tag/maven-javadoc-plugin-3.3.2

At the time of creating this issue, both versions 3.3.2 and 3.4.0 have been released. Primarily, 3.4.0 breaks backward compatibility with the Maven reporting API < 3.1.0, whilst 3.3.2 maintains that (binary) compatibility.

Given the parent has moved the site plugin to 3.11.0, we only (at least for projects that take that dependency from the parent) use reporting-api 3.1.0. Hence, I propose we move to 3.4.0 over 3.3.2.
