Any attempt to do multiple inits is going to cause some havoc in several classes I can think of.

My (vague) recollection is that the containers that do auto-initialisation of beans they wrap check to see if the wrapped bean has already been initialised to avoid problems.

My vote would be towards not permitting either multiple inits or multiple destroys.
