Tom raised this in a side discussion on https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/browse/MDA-266. It was off-topic there but I think the idea has enough merit that we should at least consider it independently. I’d guess the IdP v5 stack would be the time to do so.

TL;DR: this project’s artifact has a name that is somewhat inappropriate and confusing; we should consider renaming it.
