I didn’t exactly consider the implications on connectors, that’s somewhat analagous to https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/browse/IDP-1993 ( https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/browse/IDP-1993 ) , determining whether to come up with some generic approach or making it a dedicated case. There are reasonable arguments both ways certainly.
