The support for JWT authentication by clients is very bare bones right now, it's just checking signatures and not validating the actual JWT. This is nominally a security bug but it requires the key to exploit and I don't think it's been used much, if at all. Will hopefully shore this up when we standardize on a new validation API for other use cases.
