The object that both Velocity and scriptlet look at has changed.  Simplistically one could just document this (by writing documentation pointing to the appropriate javadoc).

I believe that we need to revisit the idea of (for 3.0 to 3.1) surfacing an object which implements the V2 API.  This might be able to return the right stuff in some cases (with an log.INFO("Deprecated, will go away") and a log.FATAL("no 1-1 mapping") in the other cases.  We could then give an early aacli to the beta testers and see what works and what doesn't.

Obviously getting hold of the principal is a major issue..

Doing this would require rather more time (2 days doucmentation, 2 days psuedo device, 1 day test, 1 week habdling user feedback).  So I'll extend this.
