It would be nice to run PMD and generate a report covering the code for a project/module and generate an aggregate report for multi-module projects.  Attached is an initial PMD configuration.

One thing to consider, with the PMD ruleset, is how it will interact with the checkstyle ruleset as there is a subset of overlapping checks that each could perform.
