Add an option to initially show the select or text field

Currently the EDS shows the text field by default when loaded. However, some users might prefer the drop-down list to be used as default.
I have not found an option to configure this and CSS rules don't seem to work either (because they are likely to be overwritten by the javascript).

So, having an configuration option for this would be great.
