The Identity Provider currently provides very useful information in the protected status handler (/idp/status). Our federation polls this information to measure the uptime, get version number and do some monitoring of the IdPs that allow this (by adding our IP range to the list of allowed IPs).

To further improve the monitoring and have an easy way to get some accounting numbers, it would be very useful to make the status handler also publish the number of authentication/attribute statements issued. Like for the Apache status handler this could be the total numbers since startup as well as statements issued/minute.

Just as an example the output of the Apache status handler:

I think I once read/heard that there are also thoughts/plans to support JMX for the IdPv3. Even if this was the case, adding the above proposed information to the status handler probably is not much effort and still could be very useful for an admin to get a quick overview of what is going on on the IdP.
