Shibboleth wiki migration

We have completed the initial migration of the Shibboleth wiki to the Atlassian cloud and pending discovery of any fatal issues, we have installed an initial set of redirects to help with the migration, so the new wiki is "live" at https://shibboleth.atlassian.net/wiki/

Many/most of the old topic-format page links are being rewritten automatically, so those sorts of search history entries should be ok. Thanks to Mind-Mercatis for giving us the API trick we needed to pull that off.

Many other link forms cannot be rewritten, including the "short link" format with the opaque characters used to replace the topic names. Requests like that will be sent to a brief index page [1] with a link to the new wiki.

That page also includes a note describing a problem that unfortunately is going to cause some angst on occasion, due to an Atlassian bug. While anonymous access is enabled and works fine, unfortunately people with Atlassian accounts who are logged into those accounts will either be blocked and given the option of gaining access to the site, or in the case of public email providers like gmail or icloud, will simply be blocked with no recourse.

While we can (and likely will) add users with public emails to the site if they ask, we can't automate that, so as that page notes, the only reliable way to get anonymous access is to not be logged into Atlassian or use a private window. Since this bug has been open for almost 10 years now, it seems pretty unlikely it will get fixed and we'll just have to live with it for now.

As that page also notes, we have left commenting turned on for any logged in accounts with site access, but not editing. Edit access is available for now on request, and a handful of folks with a history of making fixes and contributions will be given that access shortly.
