The Shibboleth Project team is please to announce the rather long awaited
release of an alpha version of our upcoming 3.0.0 Identity Provider
release, a substantial redesign of the IdP code base. [1]
We have produced preliminary documentation aimed at testers, primarily
expected to be people familiar with the 2.x software, which you can find
here:
https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/IDP30/
A simple installation guide for the alpha and some configuration
documentation are linked from the Deployer Resources box. We will be
adding and correcting things as we go.
This is a rather advanced alpha, but is still missing some features that
will be in the final release and the configuration and APIs are still
subject to change, so alpha is the appropriate designation.
We encourage any and all testing of the software, and you may file direct
bug reports against the "IDP" project in our issue tracker, or discuss
issues or ask questions on the development list [2] freely. We particuarly
encourage testing of legacy configuration files and any performance
testing people can do.
We do not have formal plans at this time for subsequent alpha or beta
releases, but testers will find it easy to download updated nightly
snapshots as we fix bugs, and I suspect we'll have betas in the late
summer time frame.
